Before you go

Pack like a Pro

Like any tropical destination, there are a few things you should have in your suitcase:

  • Lavender oil (natural mosquito repellent)
  • Sunglasses
  • Sunscreen
  • Aloe lotion
  • Flip flops
  • Swimsuits
  • Advil (ibuprofen)
  • Electrolyte powder (hydration is key)
  • Copies of your travel insurance
  • A copy of your passport

Currency

The Mexican currency is the Peso (MXN).

You’ll most likely find an ATM in your hotel lobby but you might want to take care of exchanging currencies before departing as most hotel ATMs have pretty hefty transaction fees.

Did you know that if you call/order online ahead of time your pesos (or any other currency for that matter) with your local airport currency counter, you’ll likely avoid transaction fees all together.
