Bellemar Caves in Varadero Bellemar Caves in Varadero

The Cuevas de Bellamar (Bellamar Caves) have always been a go-to spot in Cuba. The underground experience begins in a large cave with stalagmites and stalactites growing from the floor and ceiling. Then, after a 100 ft descent down narrow corridors, you’ll find yourself surrounded by formations of small – and quite majestic – crystals. At the end of the tour, the guide will suggest you drink water from two natural fountains: the "Fountain of Youth" and "Fountain of Love." (We’re not sure of the potency of the elixir, but how can you resist?). What’s most impressive is the knowledge that these caves have been standing for more than 300,000 years. The tour itself is fairly short but at about $5.00, it’s a no-brainer if you’re down for a tour.
